UKCA & CE Marking following Brexit

The UK Government has published guidance for the placing of goods within Great Britain and into Northern Ireland as from 1st January 2021.

The introduction of UKCA [UK Conformity Assessed] marking is a new UK product marking that will be used for goods being placed on the market of Great Britain. The UKCA marking alone cannot be used for goods placed on the Northern Ireland market, which requires CE marking or UKNI marking.

Goods which are affixed with ‘CE’ marking and meeting obligations of the EU’s Construction Product Regulation may still be placed on the UK market until 1st January 2022. From 1st January 2022 ‘CE’ marking will not be recognised in Great Britain for areas covered by government guidance. However, products bearing the ‘CE’ marking will still be valid for sale in the UK so long as they are also UKCA marked and compliant with the relevant UK guidance around conformity.

Hochiki Europe are aware of requirements and are making necessary steps with it’s UK Approved Bodies to ensure compliance to UK requirements and will advise our customers accordingly. In order to transition successfully to the new requirements that are required by January 1st 2022, Hochiki will begin updating affected products labels as soon as possible. However, in some cases some products may not bear the UKCA marking until the official deadline of January 1st 2022, but will continue to be placed onto UK market using CE marking during this transition period.
