A major utility provider in the Middle East, responsible for powering vast swathes of the region, are now ensuring the absolute safety of their stations with Hochiki fire detection systems.
Their substations are the lifeblood of their operation, and any fire incident could have catastrophic consequences, not just for them, but for the communities they serve. They needed a system that offered unparalleled reliability and met the stringent standards set by the Dubai Civil Defence and international bodies like NFPA 72.
The requirements were clear. The system had to be dependable, capable of detecting and suppressing fires quickly and effectively in a high-risk environment. There needed to be the ability to network addressable fire detection and releasing panels was paramount for centralised monitoring and control. And of course there was the regulatory compliance. The system had to adhere to both local and international fire safety standards.
Recognising the critical nature of the project, Hochiki Middle East worked closely with the utility provider to design and implement a bespoke fire safety solution.
These high-performance panels formed the backbone of the system, providing advanced fire detection with their fully networkable architecture. Utilising Hochiki's DCP (Digital Communication Protocol) ensured enhanced reliability and rapid communication between devices.
Dedicated XT+ panels were deployed to manage the gas suppression systems within the substations, ensuring precise and timely activation. These panels were seamlessly networked with the FireNET Plus panels, allowing for cohesive operation.
Multiple panels were interconnected over a secure network, enabling centralised monitoring and control from a dedicated control room. Customised mimic annunciator panels, equipped with LEDs and switches, provided a clear and intuitive overview of the entire system.
The customer was particularly impressed with the FireNET Plus panels' networking capabilities. The ability to monitor and control the entire system from a central location gave them the peace of mind they needed, and the XT+ releasing panels provided the precise control they required for their gas suppression systems.
The successful deployment of Hochiki's FireNET Plus and XT+ panels at the utility provider's substations has significantly enhanced fire safety. The system provides reliable fire detection and suppression, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure and compliance with all relevant standards.
The Hochiki system has proven to be a reliable and effective solution. It has given this service provider the confidence that their substations are protected by a world-class fire safety system. This project serves as a benchmark for fire protection in critical infrastructure facilities across the UAE, and they are proud to have partnered with Hochiki on this vital project.
