Hochiki’s History
For 100 years Hochiki Corporation has led the way in the design and manufacturer of innovative life safety solutions. Its leading edge commercial and industrial life safety systems and products have acquired global acceptance as the benchmark for high-integrity and long-term reliability.
Japan’s first fire alarm manufacturer was established under the corporate name of “Tokyo Hochiki Co., Ltd.” at Yurakucho, Kojimachi-ku (now Chiyoda-ku), Tokyo, with initial investments from life insurance companies. The company’s first prospectus states that Hochiki was established for the purpose of “manufacturing fire, theft and other alarms and selling modern fire-fighting machinery.”
Hochiki is now a wholly independent, multinational, publicly listed group of companies with over 2,000 employees working across six manufacturing plants, 38 sales offices, and 14 subsidiaries.
Hochiki in Europe
Hochiki's European headquarters were established in 1993 in the UK. Operating under Hochiki Europe (UK) Limited, the business provides advanced fire detection and emergency lighting systems across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
At present, Hochiki Europe builds more than 700,000 conventional and intelligent detectors and ancillaries per year at its purpose-built production facility based in North Kent.
