Hotel Montresor Tower, located just outside Verona, is a beautiful example of contemporary Italian design. This four-star hotel is a preferred destination for both business and leisure travellers, boasting spacious guest rooms and a large, newly renovated conference centre. With the recent refurbishment, the hotel saw an opportunity to modernise its fire detection system—ensuring it met the latest safety standards while maintaining the sleek aesthetics of the updated spaces.

Having relied on Hochiki technology for many years, the hotel once again turned to Hochiki products for this latest upgrade. The project, managed by local installer TOLA &C. SRL, involved a system refresh, including VADs, sensors, call points and the installation of a new Hochiki Latitude 8-loop control panel, a powerful platform designed to manage large, complex fire systems with ease.

“We chose Hochiki’s Latitude system because of its flexibility and intuitive programming options. Its Hotel Mode is particularly valuable in environments like this, where guest comfort must be balanced with safety. It offers the kind of tailored cause-and-effect logic that’s simply not available in many competitor panels.”

said Eddy Tola, owner of TOLA &C. SRL.

Latitude’s Hotel Mode enables customised alarm behaviours suited to hotel environments. For example, it allows for controlled alarm delays in guest rooms to permit on-site verification before a full evacuation is triggered, helping avoid unnecessary disruption while maintaining safety compliance.

To complement the aesthetics of the refurbished conference centre, new black-finished ESP sensors were selected to blend seamlessly with the venue’s dark ceilings. Throughout the rest of the hotel, older smoke sensors were replaced with new ESP devices to comply with UNI11224, an Italian standard that provides guidelines for the inspection and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems, which also mandates system upgrades every 12 years to maintain peak reliability and performance.

“We’ve been extremely satisfied with Hochiki’s technology over the years, it's reliable, easy to maintain, and straightforward for our staff to operate. When the time came to expand and refurbish, there was no question we’d stay with Hochiki for the new system too.”

stated Luca Montresor, Director at Montresor Hotels.

By upgrading to Latitude and continuing their use of Hochiki’s ESP range, Hotel Montresor Tower has futureproofed its fire safety infrastructure—delivering a smarter, more reliable, and visually integrated fire safety system that protects both guests and staff without compromise.
