Trainee Manufacturing Technician/Manufacturing Technician

To ensure that production equipment required for production process is available, operational and maintained so that the production system is able to operate effectively.

Who you’ll report to:

Engineering Team Leader

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Assist with NPIs and new processes through the creation of work instructions and other relevant documentation.
  • Support the production operation with first-line fault diagnosis/repair of all production equipment.                           
  • Carry out updates to Production drawings and documentation as necessary.
  • To introduce LEAN improvements within production to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Liaise with external contractors to coordinate planned maintenance or repairs.
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to the required standard.
  • To perform calibration tasks on production equipment and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Training production shopfloor staff on new or updated processes or equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain a production department asset register.
  • To assist with shopfloor layout change activities and new equipment installations.
  • To prepare maintenance procedures and schedules for production equipment.
  • To maintain engineering stores and spares stock to ensure prompt first line response time.
  • To create programmes for Production equipment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • No qualifications required but any formal qualification in Engineering is highly desirable.

Experience/Knowledge

  • No experience required but any experience in a production environment is highly desirable.

Shift work is required as part of the role, rotating over 3 weeks with the other two technicians. The shift pattern would be 6am-2pm, 8:30am-5pm and 2pm-10pm Mon-Thurs, 6am-1pm, 8:30am-4pm and 1pm-8pm Fri. You would also be expected to provide shift cover when the other technicians are on leave (2 weeks’ notice would be provided for this).
