SMT Production Engineer

Working within a well-established team, the SMT (Service Mount Technology) Production Engineer will be involved with day to day production duties relating to PCB assembly; both conventional and SMT. The Production Engineer will be required to provide support and training to assembly operators including trouble shooting.

What your be doing:


  • Program generation of SMT line equipment
  • To provide technical support (trouble shooting, problem solving, producing jigs/fixtures) to the production lines
  • Produce relevant documents to implement products and NPI’s into manufacture procedures such as work instructions and BOM
  • Work with the product team to identify manufacturing needs for NPI’s and fault free introduction
  • Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs
  • To work closely with the shop floor offering support to line leaders and assembly operators
  • Ensure product and process quality meets required specification
  • Gather and report production cell KPI’s including defect analysis for SMT
  • Utilise lean manufacturing methods to reduce waste and improve productivity
  • Follow company quality procedures, standards and work instructions whilst working towards continuous improvements for yield, cycle time and attrition
  • Offering support and guidance to the shop floor. Supporting and training the line leaders and operators
  • Additional duties as required


Person Specification


We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated and have a passion to contribute to the success of Hochiki. In addition to this, you will possess the following:


  • Essential: HNC in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Desirable: Certificate courses for manufacturing


  • Essential: Previous experience in Production Engineering including SMT, trouble shooting, Prior electronic manufacturing including conventional and SMT PCB
  • Desirable: IPC-A610 certification experience


  • Essential: Working with manufacturing equipment, understanding of Lean methodology, program generation for SMT line eg Pick and Place, AOI, Flying Probe, Solder Paste Printing Machine, Oven etc

Technical skills

  • Desirable: SAP Business 1, 2D/3D CAD, Assembleon, BTU, Dek & SAKI AOI
