SMT Manufacturing Engineer

To work as part of an engineering team to ensure effective production across the factory floor. Working to improve processes and develop lean practices. Taking responsibility for new projects and product introductions within production. The main focus will be on SMT (Surface Mount Technology) within this role. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their skills and take on their next step in their career. This is ideal for a Junior level candidate.

Who you’ll report to:

Engineering Team Leader

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Assist with NPIs and new processes.
  • Support technicians with fault diagnosis and repair of production equipment.
  • Carry out updates to controlled drawings and documentation as necessary
  • To introduce LEAN improvements within production to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Liaise with external contactors to coordinate planned maintenance or repairs
  • To perform calibration tasks on production equipment and maintain accurate records as required
  • Training production shopfloor staff on new or updated processes or equipment
  • To assist with shopfloor layout change activities and new equipment installations
  • To create programmes for SMT equipment.
  • Research and instal new production equipment.
  • Put processes in place to improve OEE on the SMT line.
  • Run pre-production activities.
  • Review and approve concessions.
  • Ensure product and process quality meets required specification.
  • Gather and report production cell KPI’s including defect analysis for SMT.
  • Follow company quality procedures, standards and work instructions whilst working towards continuous improvements for yield, cycle time and attrition.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A formal qualification in Engineering is highly desirable.

 

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience working with SMT equipment is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a production environment is desirable.
  • Electronics knowledge is desirable.
