Production Planner

The Production Planner will be a highly organised individual with extensive knowledge of the Production environment. The role is responsible for ensuring all orders are planned effectively to maximise capacity across all production cells. The Planner will ensure all line speeds and associated headcounts are planned correctly and monitored against targets.

Location: Gillingham (with limited travel to other locations)

Who you’ll report to:
Procurement Manager (with a dotted line to the Production Manager)


What you’ll be doing:


  • Deliver the weekly production schedule by ensuring materials, components, equipment and documentation are available on time and in full
  • Participate and contribute to daily Production meetings
  • Review MRP demand and raise production orders according to the master schedule
  • Liaise with Customer Services to ensure the plan is aligned to customer requirements, and report when capacity is not achieved, taking into consideration customer service dates and planned production dates
  • Produce and distribute the RCCP (Rough Cut Capacity Plan)
  • To be a point of contact between various business departments, such as Supply Chain, Warehouse, Production, Compliance and Procurement
  • To be the superuser of MRP, responsible for setting and updating control parameters
  • To ensure good levels of stock accuracy and advanced planning processes are in place
  • Driving the demand planning process, ensuring min/max levels are correctly set and lead times are being monitored continuously to deliver performance
  • Support the Procurement team with suppliers of kanban materials
  • Prepare Production Planning monthly reports
  • Building close relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Support the business with projects & inventory reduction activities
  • Support management of inventory and stock levels to meet customer requirements
  • Undertake additional duties that may be required by the organisation

Person Specification


We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated and have a passion to contribute to the success of Hochiki. In addition to this, you will possess the following:




  • Essential: 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C)
  • Desirable: Degree educated or equivalent standard. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt




  • Essential: Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a lean manufacturing environment
  • Desirable: Previous Planning experience with ERP systems




  • Desirable: Electronics manufacturing industry experience 


Technical skills


  • Essential: Excellent MS Excel skills and experience using SAP, MRP

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to process large amounts of data
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform well under pressure, achieve goals and meet deadlines
  • A good team player able to work with minimum supervision.
