Engineering/ NPI Technician

A exciting new role has arisen to support the Compliance Manager in ensuring that all Hochiki products are built to the best quality standards and to the correct drawing levels. All documentation and services will need to be compliant with internal and external standards whilst meeting the high expectations of our customers. The Engineering & NPI Technician will need to be self motivated and able to manage their own work load whilst meeting regularly with compliance groups and take responsibility for supporting the Production department with new designs or modifications to existing products. You will work in conjunction with our Technical and Production departments based in the Rochester & Gillingham but the role will also involve active support to our manufacturing plants in Japan & America.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and reporting all aspects our Engineering Change Request system.
  • Liaising with our suppliers regarding drawing updates issues and matters.
  • To modify drawings & 3D models during the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process.
  • To support the Approval & Certification Engineer on all drawings and document register and updates.
  • To manage the New Product Introduction (NPI) process of our products from our R&D department into production.
  • Liaison with Engineering Design during product development phase.
  • Develop the production process for new products, including qualifying the supply chain and packaging methods.
  • Work with Design Engineering to improve the manufacturability of current products.
  • Establishing, producing and maintaining accurate compliance key performance indicators (KPI’s) for Change requests, non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Monitoring quality issues and trends.
  • Ensuring that Hochiki’s products comply with relevant national and international standards
  • Complete various and accurate compliance and investigations report.
  • Maintain our management systems document control process and issue new documents or improvements as required.
  • Work with all departments to continually improve component and product quality.
  • Manage or assist customer complaints and complaint reporting.
  • Coordinating with all the other departments that have a role to play in quality, environmental and Health & Safety matters.

Person Specification


We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated and have a passion to contribute to the success of Hochiki. In addition to this, you will possess the following



  • Essential: HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Desirable: Certificate courses for manufacturing



  • Essential: Minimum of 3 years Engineering Experience
  • Desirable: 5 years’ experience in an Engineering role
  • Desirable: Prior engineering experience in manufacturing



  • Essential: The ability to read and update engineering drawings
  • Desirable: SAP Business 1 Knowledge and experience


Technical skills

  • Essential: Proficiency in Solid works & Coral draw in Microsoft Software Packages
